How to extract audio from a video on iPhone
iPhone shoots excellent video but is awkward when you only need the soundtrack as an MP3 for podcasts, language study, or music practice. Here are on-device options and a private desktop path when you need a proper audio file.
What iOS can do by itself
Shortcuts can sometimes route a video into apps that accept audio, and the Voice Memos / Files dance works for rough captures. iMovie and third-party editors can export audio, but the steps change between iOS versions and eat storage for apps you may not want.
For a clean MP3 you can drop into a course portal or DAW, moving the video to a computer and extracting there is still the most predictable workflow.
Desktop extraction with Formato
AirDrop, cable, or cloud-download the video to Mac or Windows. Open Formato’s extract-audio tool, upload the file (not a YouTube link), choose MP3/WAV/M4A, and download.
